Our mission is to advance maternal survival, empower widows, and safeguard the well-being of infants and children, reaching the women and families most cut off from care through a growing network of community-based Area Mamas.
The killings in northern Nigeria don't just claim lives. They leave behind widows, orphaned children, and vulnerable girls who lose the fathers, brothers, uncles, and husbands who once protected and provided for them.
Many are pushed into IDP camps where shelter exists but the basics of survival, food, sanitary supplies, bedding, clothing for growing children, do not. We built Global Area Mama Initiative to show up in those places, and to keep showing up.
No woman should die from a preventable cause during pregnancy or childbirth. We work to close the gaps that put mothers and their newborns at risk, especially in underserved and displaced communities.
Widows are among the most economically and socially vulnerable people we meet. We help them stand on their feet again, with material support, dignity, community, and pathways to sustainable livelihoods.
Children who lose their fathers to violence lose more than a parent, they lose their protector and provider. We show up for them with essentials, care, and long-term safeguarding.
